+ Electrical Designer/Drafter - Irvine, Ca


Irvine, CA

Full-time

POSITION OFFERED:Production design / drafter (for Electrical System Building Design). The position is full time and located in Corona California.

JOB DESCRIPTION:The successful candidate will be expected to assist engineers, project managers, and senior designers in the preparation of construction drawing packages for the electrical discipline.

REQUIREMENTS: Must be a team player who works well with others

Excellent drafting technique and speed

AutoCAD and/or AutoCAD MEP (minimum of 3 years experience in thebuilding designA/E/C field)

Must have advanced level knowledge of the following: external references (xrefs), layer control, batch plotting (publishing), OLE linking and embedding, dimscale, familiarity with standard drawing scales for the A/E/Cbuilding designindustry

  • Autodesk Revit MEP (minimum 1-year experience)
  • Bluebeam Revu
  • excellent organization and file management using Windows Explorer
  • Microsoft Windows Operating systems (current versions)
  • Knowledge of Microsoft Office programs including:
  • Excel (electrical panel schedules), Word, Outlook, etc.
  • excellent written and oral communication skills
  • Electrical Design experience
  • NEC and local electrical codes
  • CA Title 24 Energy Code compliance
  • Energypro software – California Title 24 calculations a plus
  • COMcheck (energy compliance)
  • Lighting layouts and circuiting
  • Lighting point-by-point calculations using “Visual” or “AGI” software
  • Power layouts and circuiting
  • Electrical load calculations
  • Signal (fire alarm, security systems and building telecommunications design are a plus)

Opening for Mid to Senior Level Electrical Engineer with 5 to 15 years of experience in the design of electrical power and lighting systems for new buildings and renovations. Candidates are preferred to have a Bachelor of Science Degree in Electrical Engineering and able to lead design projects. Project management skills, working in AutoCAD / Revit, and LC certificates are considered a plus. PE License preferred.

Pre-Design Engineering

-Performs field surveys for the design of electrical systems, gathers information and completes load summaries.

-Prepares electrical schematic designs

Design Engineering

-Lighting and power equipment selections

-Performs lighting and power circuiting

-Prepares Fire Alarm device layout

-Designs and coordinates lighting controls

-Designs power single line and riser diagrams

-Designs fire alarm riser diagrams and sequence of operations

-Create General Specifications

-Understand and utilize CAD & Revit standards

-Have a working knowledge of Codes and Energy Standards

-Ability to read floor plans, sections and elevations, risers, details, schedules and specifications.

-Possess strong record-keeping and organizational skills

-Possess a good sense of coordination and follows through. Able to work in close contact with the entire design team.

Ability to use Outlook, Microsoft Office, AutoCAD, MS

Construction Administration

-Reviews and responds to RFI’s

-Reviews equipment submittals

-Performs punch lists

-Required experience: 5 years minimum experience designing power and lighting systems for new buildings and renovations.
